1号洞是一个4杆洞，和第9洞共用一条球道，和古老的圣安德鲁森老球场很相似，作为回合的开始是很好掌控的。但是开球越直，打上果岭就越直。第二杆时尽量对准坡上果岭的左侧，因为即便在这个方向失球仍有很大可能击中果岭表面。

The Bluffs的第一个短球洞，但也是难度系数最高的之一。它地处下坡，四周防御极佳——左侧是国家森林（越界），右侧是水区，前方和果岭后各有一个大沙坑等待失球落入。平稳自信地挥杆，打出精准的码数。打过去就是相对平坦的果岭，是对成功找到它的人的奖励。

不要被这个笔直的4杆洞的“盲打”开球所迷惑，那里的空间比从发球区能看到的要更大。球道的左中位置是进入的最佳角度，因为果岭右侧一直都有又大又深的沙坑保护。果岭也向陷阱一侧倾斜，因此若想尝试在这个方向切球或是推球都应轻轻来。

第二个3杆洞比第一个要短很多，但是左前方的陷阱非常陡峭，让人想到皇家圣乔治4号洞著名的球道沙坑，此外在右前方还有一个壶状深坑，防守严密。同时，这里地面开阔，在选择球杆时一定要充分考虑风的强度和方向。最后无论旗杆是否在果岭中间，都要对准那里击球。标准杆是非常棒的成绩。
